Letter from Sue De Sousa

Hi Sheila,

Thank you for answering my inquiry about George Yeo, I will gladly give you the info. that I have found, all be it a small amount. I should explain, I have only been doing my family tree for the last three months, so I'm only a beginner, also I have been trying to work on my four families( from my parents) to gather as much info. as possible by word of mouth as relatives are now getting older and memories are slipping away. Hence I have not really had the time to go into the Yeo's in much depth. After I wrote my inquiry , I found I had another George in the family, both of these were in the Navy, now I may not have my facts correct but I do believe that I was told that the Navy had their own census, I am not sure where to acquire one as of yet, so these are my next steps. If you can help me with that or any other info. you may have I would much appreciate it. Thanks. My family tree- (Don't know how to do this properly, so will just start from me and go back!) Susan Penney De Sousa -Married Jorge De Sousa - Ontario, Canada My mother was - Joyce Penney(nee Eastens) b.June 24th, 1924. m. Robert Edward Penney b.02.01.1922 My grandmother - Mrs. Mabel Eastens ( nee Down) b.14.02.1896 m. They later moved to Newquay where he was a care taker in the Wesley Methodist Church. m. Julia Yeo b. 1867, she was a dressmaker/wife. My g uncle? - Julia Yeo had two siblings - Emma Yeo b.1863 She was a dressmaker. They had a brother George Yeo b.1865, he was in the Navy (no dates or rank). He later became a painter ( painter & decorator I'm thinking!) He was also an excellent singer and used to sing in the pubs with his Naval buddies. They all lived at 47 Mount Street, Stoke Damerel. My gggrandfather- (Julia, Emma & George's father), George Yeo b.1822,in Devonport. according to the 1881 census he was now a retired Navy Pensioner, he worked at the Royal Sailors Home,67 Duke Street, Stoke Demerel. m. to Ellen Buckthought (Buckthot) b. 1829. Well Sheila, this is as far as I can go back, hope this is useful to you, I noted that you also had family from Stoke Damerel, perhaps we are related!! Anyway if you can help me with anything at all I would much appreciate it. Thanks. Sue De Sousa ( descendant of the Yeo's)
